DISABILITY PULSE

Hosted by Peter Dempsey

Disability Pulse.

New ideas. Emerging technology. What's next.

The disability sector moves. Most of us find out late

Disability Pulse is an hour to get across what is changing — in technology, in services and in the decisions that affect everyday life. Peter Dempsey brings his perspective on what matters, what needs questioning and what to do next.

First session

What to ask a provider before you sign

  • Thursday 1 October 2026

  • Thursday 1 October 2026

  • Thursday 1 October 2026

Your seat. Your questions. One useful hour.

Free for people with disability, families and carers. Providers and sector professionals, $47.

Why Disability Pulse

The announcement is only the start.

A new tool. A different way of delivering support. A change that affects your choices. You need to know what it means in practice.

Peter examines what is changing, challenges the claims and explains what matters. Think of it as a lookout: see what is coming, then decide your next step.

Who does this help?

What evidence is there?

What does it cost?

Who is being left out?

The first session

Look beyond the brochure.

A brochure tells you what a provider promises. This session gives you questions to ask — and explains what a useful answer sounds like.

  • How to read what a provider is offering, beyond the brochure

  • Questions about staff, turnover and who will actually turn up

  • How to ask about choice, communication and what happens when something goes wrong

  • What to ask next when an answer is vague — and what to check if you want to leave

❞

“We will distinguish what is established, what is still emerging and what is my interpretation.”

What providers get for $47

You will hear the questions participants and families need answered before choosing your service — in their words rather than yours.

You will also hear where trust is won and lost: in who turns up, what gets communicated, and what happens when something goes wrong.
